Kirkham hot springs

Idaho is a hot springs paradise. Kirkham hot springs is  just the place to go.This legendary hot spring is one of many along the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway. It features geothermal pools and waterfalls of varying temperatures and is nuzzled up to the beautiful South Fork of the Payette River.

The  Kirkham Hot Springs is located in the Boise National Forest. During the regular season (April through November), parking for day use is $5.00,
Regular hot springs hours are from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm and are closed at night.
Vault toilets and picnic tables , as well as trash cans are available on site.
You can also choose to camp at the campground right next to the hot springs and we did, it was one of my most beautiful camping experience.

Camping beside the hot springs was heaven, hearing the sound of the river flowing away happily, the sounds of birds chirping, coyote howling. I did see one Coyote before it got dark.

Kirkham Hot Springs not only gets more traffic than most in the area, but it also tends to be more of a family-friendly place so it’s best to keep your suit on. Plus, all soakers are completely visible from the highway!

There are 10 separate pools all of varying temperate and size to fit anyone’s preference. This place is pretty popular but there is a lot of room to spread out if you want a quiet soak. Kirkham hot springs has both great views and lots of warm pools to relax in! The scenery is absolutely  gorgeous

Kirkham Hot Springs is on the right side of highway 21 and it’s super accessible.  Getting there is super simple, and there are clear signs for the campsite, Also be on the lookout for other hot springs along the way as this area is full of them!
Kirkham hot springs was one of the most beautiful places I’ve been in  and the most ideal spot for a hot springs to relax in.  The views were fantastic and I could have stayed there all day.

Some of these pool sit right by the river and mix with the colder water, creating a variety of temperatures and making it ideal during the summer. There are a few larger pools at the campground, the rest of the pools are of varying sizes and scattered around the edge of the river just a short walk away. I highly recommend some sort of sandals or water shoes to get to these pools as the rocks can be slippery!

Also make sure to get the full experience with the hot water running off the overhanging ledge that makes a steamy natural shower! This was definitely my favorite. I had a really nice time in this natural shower. Luckily for us we had this place to ourselves.

This is one of those charming spots that you've got to experience firsthand.  If you ever visit Idaho, this is definitely a bucket list. Have a great soak!
